France [Longer Edition]

Soooo, I wrote a blog entry giving a brief overview of my stay in France, and here are finally some pictures. You may want to re-read the previous post entitled "France [quick edition]" so you have an idea of the chronological order of events. Keep in mind that this trip, just as Dublin, was also kicked off with a night of no sleep. Thanks due to my underlying motto for the entire trip "When in London" and peer pressure from my friends. Here we go:

The reason I didn't sleep the night before - The Underworld nightclub in Camden.
from left to right - Stacy, Ben (our RA), Jon, Emily - All MSU peeps [except Ben]

Paris: Day 1

My first view of Paris outside of Gare de Norde station.
Nick [my travel buddy for the weekend], myself, and Mark outside of the entrance of the Louvre.
Bridge!
Louvre!
Inside the Louvre
Atop Notre Dame [phew...what a walk!]
Inside Notre Dame
Outside the giant church
Atop Notre Dame again. It was absolutely crazy being up here. Seeing Paris up close and personal was...like many other things....indescribable. Pictures do absolutely no justice.
That's the Eiffel Tower, people.

Sacred Heart Church - The highest point in Paris
Nick, myself, Jess, Kelsey (front), Andrea, Mark - Atop Notre Dame

Nick and I left early in the morning on Sunday to go to Arras, France, which is about an hour train ride north from Paris. It's a very small town that's not used to tourists, and it showed. We went here for the Main Square Festival, and it proved to be an absolutely perfect day for a festival. Everything was perfect - the music, the people, the location, the venue, the environment...

My camera was on its last leg of battery, and the memory was nearly full from Paris and other places, so I had to take my pictures sparingly.

Arras parking lot near the outside venue.

The line to get in the festival behind us. We got in line at about 10am or so, and the festival gates didn't open until 3pm, so we were right at the front. How wonderful!
Waiting for the show to start.
First up - VAMPIRE WEEKEND!!!!!!
The venue was these types of buildings all the way around, making a square. It was by far the most pictaresque venue I have ever seen. I couldn't imagine a better place to hold this festival.

Second up was The Wombats
Third band to play was The Do
excited applause.
SIGUR ROS!!!!!!!!!! OMG omg!!
More Sigur Ros
Sigur Ros finale.
This is Maia, and my gateway to a place to stay in Switzerland if need be. Anxiously, ANXIOUSLY awaiting Radiohead, and sitting down for the first time in seven hours.
but now.....RADIOHEAD!!

Radiohead played a great, great set. I couldn't have asked for anymore from them. They played all of disc one of their new album, and pretty much every single song that I was really excited to hear (except creep). They played a ridiculously lengthy set, as well, which made it even better. Oh, thom yorke, how do you do it!?

Okay, that's all I have time for. If you have access to facebook, check out more detailed pictures on there, or better yet, ask me to show you all my pictures when I get home!!
