Hey all,
So six days and counting until I board my flight at the lovely and never-packed Metro Airport. I have a ten hour layover in Chicago, so I suppose I may as well make the most out of it and meet up with some buddies that are living out there for the summer.
You might ask yourself - "What has Evan been doing to prepare for his trip?" The answer is "Not enough". I still have so much to do for my trip it's overwhelming. It's difficult to look past the middle of the week because I still need to get through my final exams. My last final is on Wednesday, so the time between Wednesday and Sunday (the day I leave) is going to be quite intensive (for both me and my mom).
I have no updates as to specifics with where I will be traveling when I am over seas because everyone I talk to on the trip seems to be just as spontaneous as I am, which works out. I'm planning on buying my tickets for the tube and cheap airfare when I get over there rather than right now because the prices seem to be greatly fluctuating.
I am borrowing a digital camera from work, and MAYBE a Flip Video..hopefully. That means I'll have a crazy influx of pictures to share with you people. I started a Flickr account so that I can share my pictures with my friends (and some potential strangers), so if you would like to be able to view all of my pictures in an organized fashion, I would suggest that You get an account, too.
Thinking past this Wednesday seems nearly impossible to me right now, and the thought of it shoots stress signals throughout my body. I will post once more before I leave for the other side of the pond with the specifics of my flight and an updated overview of how "ready" I am.
Before I go, I would like to make you ALL aware of my great friend, Zach Jarou, who is in the middle of The Fuller Bike Trip in order to raise money for an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity - Building Biking on Higher Ground. I would ask you all to view his blogspot here and send him some love, for he and Kelsey are doing amazing things.
CAN'T WAIT FOR THESE CLASSES TO END AHHH!!

You Up For Europe?
My crapulent six-week rendezvous with Europe and its drunkard citizens begins in 25 days and counting. Of course, this trip will serve as nothing but a fully-educational trip consisting of deep assimilation of varying cultures - less you worry.
Destination: London
Residence: University of London residence dormitories
Place of study: Birkbeck College, University of London
Length of stay: Six weeks [June 30 - August 9]
I will be utilizing this blog in order to keep you [my obsessive fanboy readers...aka my parents] updated and entertained. Perhaps I should have created a dichotomous blog system; one used solely for educational purposes (performances, realizations, cross-cultural encounters, etc.) and one packed full of inept experiences and story-tellings from nights that are better recalled through a 3" LCD camera screen and through the countless "Dude, remember when"'s than they are from my own memory. However, I will be combining these experiences into one eclectic blog for your enjoyment.
My education in London will consist of three English Literature classes: Literature and English from 1900 to the present, Postcolonial Literature and Theory, and Renaissance Literature and Drama. The program description for the MSU Study Abroad program can be found here.
My potential places to visit include Paris, Arras and Wales, respectively, as well as spontaneous (but not so spontaneous since I'm planning on the spontaneity of my travel) day and night trips in between. Posted will be pictures, videos, maps, links, but most importantly beautifully drawn-out accounts of unusual experiences from an unusual introspective mindset (introspectivity...in MY activities...get it?).
I will attempt to post regularly, but I can't promise I will be in an appropriate posting "state of mind".
I will try my best.
Anxiously awaiting the termination of my current educational obligations here in the US,
Evan
